Can l afford this cadillac?
it is about 50,000 (dnot remember the name) but its really pretty! im turning 18 and l wanna know if its okay to ask my parents without seeming too unreasonable because its really expensive..

combined family monthly income = 23000 approximately
500k house, about 250k mortgage
no debts (AT ALL -- perfect credit)

and im a responsible driver
can my parents afford it

i have a job but its really off and on for whenever im not busy with school l make like 5 dollars an hour haha
mom drives a lexus
dad used to drive an infinity but that was traded for a minivan haha :)

also l DO work really hard in school and we have a education fund set aside so that would NOT affect it at all. you have no reason to judge me just because you have NO idea who l am.

is the question can YOU afford the car, or can ur parents afford it if u beg them enough?

EDIT: they can probably afford it. but just being able to afford it does not mean that they will actually buy u a 50k car just because u ask.
EDIT (2): also, if u ask for that car used, u will probably be a bit more likely to get it. when l got my first car, my parents were making more than 500k, & my car cost less than 10k. it really all depends on how much ur parents feel like spending. if they're more frugal, try asking for a used one (2 years old = 15k less).

l guess your parents could afford it. What kinds of cars do they drive. You should not ask for something nicer than they have.

It is pathetic if the basis you have on buying a car is on whether it is ''pretty'' or not. Invest your money on getting yourself educated! Learn what actually matters, like getting a car that is good for the environment (Cadillacs are not). Get real.

You do not need a fifty thousand dollar motor vehicle. Since you're young, you're most likely an inexperienced driver. How devastated would u be if u owned this car & then had an accident? It happens.

l suggest u get a much cheaper car. Yeah, it might not be cool, but u will shed no tears if someone backs into u in the car park.

You should discuss this with ur parents. They r the ones who r paying for it.

You do not need a car that expensive. If u asked ur parents for some money instead & bought a much cheaper car, you'd be able to invest the rest & have ur own money.

People r not bitter. It is just that u come across as spoilt when u ask questions like that, especially since it is not ur money, but ur parent is money. There r a lot of people who r finding it hard in the current economy to pay their mortgage or buy food. When you're older & have those kind of responsibilities, u will realise why people do not react positively to those kinds of questions.
