right the story is that this guy is divorced and he has to pay his ex wife the money that he owes her (childsuppport). its about £800 (they had 4 kids together that is why) well lets get back to the point he paid half of it but guess what he lost receipt thingy, so now he has no proof to show the court that he has paid it...do u know about any other way he could prove it except the receipt or whatever u call it??? thanks allot if u answer :))

Well did he pay by cash? If so it would be hard to prove, but if he paid by cheque or a credit or debit card he would have at least a statement or cheque stub. Not absolute proof, but it would go a long way to backing up his claim to have paid.

Hopefully he did not pay cash and she contests the amount paid. Then he is sunk. He should just pay the remainder using a check and hope ex-wife does not come back saying he did not pay first installment. Otherwise, his word against hers.

If the payment was in currency, there is not much they can do.

If it was a check from a bank, the bank can print a copy of the cleared check made to the person showing they cashed it or deposited to a bank.

If money order, the money order company can pull an image showing who endorsed it and received payment. Probably a fee for this. Plus he needs the mo number. that was probably on the receipt.

l hear this over and over again. If he has paid by cash or does not have the receipts, then l am afraid there is no proof. He needs to turn the house upside down and find them, unless the money was paid via the bank. He could then get a statement to say he has paid. CSA is a priority payment (above credit payments to credit cards and loans etc) and one of the few debts which can never be written off in bankruptcy. He needs to get this sorted and soon.
