I am an 18 year old college student planning to move into a local apartment complex with my girlfriend, and was wondering what monthly expenses are required when one lives on their own. l currently live with my mother, therefore l only have a vague perception as to what bills to expect.

Well, alot of that can vary depending on the landlord. Obviously there is rent which is subject to ur local market. Electric bills run anywhere from $50 to $100 depending on how much u use, & If u have electric heat, expect that to be much higher. Some landlords do not have separate gas meters & factor that cost into the rent. You will also have a water bill, cable & internet, & telephone bills. You r also probably going to need 3 month rent to move in. l would expect to pay between $200 to $500 in utilities plus rent. Also, l would look into getting some renter is insurance if u have a lot of stuff. This will help u out if something happens, like a fire. Good Luck.

Well l am living with my boyfriend and we have
rent,
cable and internet,
electricity,
water,
car payment,
insurance,
a couple credit cards (that are almost paid off,)
and cell phones.

And all together our bills come out to be about $1700 a month and with both of our incomes put together we bring home $2300 a month.
