Putting money with a Bank does feel like a ''wager'' at the moment. A Standing Order is a ''push'' arrangement from one Bank to another, while a Direct Debit Mandate is a ''pull'' arrangement, which can also be reversed. Therefore the answer to your question is no.

Sometimes it is worth having two bank accounts. However, you will probably find that you are paying more interest on your overdraft than you are getting on your savings. Get rid of the overdraft first, then you can save.

No a bank can not touch ur money without a court order to do so unless they have ur permission. If u have an unauthorised overdraft & ur going beyond the money u have in ur account each month then they can suspend ur account, but they have to give u written warning. But they can not just take ur money, they would have to get a court order. However u r better off leaving the money in the account & paying off the overdraft & once its at a controlable amount then start saving. Your overdraft is costing u an arm & a leg each month. get rid of it as soon as possible!!
