l spoke with a lawyer the other day and he was like, its going to cost 2 -3 thousand...
l gave him a funny look and said, ''but wait, im bankruped''...
and he just kinda trailed off..

So is there anyway l could go to jail if l do it wrong?
Or like if l were to max out before claiming?

You'd better do a LOT of studying & be prepared to represent yourself in court in front of a judge. It does cost a lot to hire a lawyer but if u call around u will find one willing to work with u on the payments. Trust me..you really do not want to try to do it alone. You might screw up & wind up paying all of it anyways! l do not think u can go to jail for doing it wrong but the people wanting to collect on u may end up garnishing wages & taking ur income tax if u do not do it right. Whatever u do.DON'T use ur credit cards for at least a couple months before filing..otherwise the CC companies can claim that u ran them up with no intention of paying them back & they will be awarded a judgment to make u pay it ALL back! It is tricky..you would really do well to get a lawyer. Seriously. l have a relative going through it right now & he found a lawyer willing to take four individual payments of $375. After the first payment he files all the necessary paperwork & gets all the collectors to stop calling immediately! So assuming u wo not be paying back any of these people hopefully some money will be freed up & then u will pay the remaining payments for him to do all the court work & taking it in front of a judge & what not. It is a long dirty process but sometimes u just need to start over because there is no way out. l feel ur pain!
