Im really confused about Telegraphic transfer, im selling my car and the guy is from cyprus and they will put the funds into my account via TT. how do l know 100% that it has cleared through...
Ive heard a few horror stories of money being stolen ... and l do not understand how this could happen?
Can l just ring up my bank when the funds have gone through to make sure its all cleared and complete??

l would avoid overseas dealings at all cost. If you have the ability to sell locally or online to someone within the states your risk of losing money is much less. Millions of scammers out there and the majority use the out of country escrow or wire technique. The money will clear but if fraud is later found will be lost at your expense.

It is just an electronic transfer of funds, yes you phone your bank to make sure transfer has gone through, do not hand over your car or keys till you have that cash in your account.
